Woke up this morning to a text message that read:
At 12:41 am on Friday march 11th The National Weather Service issued a Tsunami Warning for coastal areas north of Pt. Conception and a Tsunami Advisory for areas south of the point. A large earthquake off the coast of Japan has generated a tsunami which will reach the central coast. The waves from this tsunami have the potential to generate strong currents and unsafe conditions in the water. Persons in the advisory area, which includes the UCSB campus and Isla Vista should stay out of the water, off the beach and out of harbors or marinas. Port San Luis Harbor will see large waves with arrival expected at 8:09am. Santa Barbara Harbor will see much smaller waves with arrival expected at 8:17 am.
